In this portrait series, I explore the female portrait in a new light. While I'm approaching the artwork in a sort of Neo-Baroque style, the subjects hail from a feminist-humanist viewpoint. No longer just a Saint or Sinner, these women have far more depth and nuance. They make statements about what it means to be a woman, what it means to be middle aged, and what lies below the surface of our appearance. I very intentionally placed the artworks in vintage thrifted frames, to play on the juxtaposition of a 17th century style brought into a current social landscape.
